xiv. persephone does care, you silly god

she hadn’t recognized the passing of time while away
it felt like age had hit her,
taken from the raven and given to her
is this how aging wine felt
when locked in a barrel for one hundred years?

the clock used to tick loudly
while she flipped eggs and carved toast
did you think about me?

the question made her wonder who she really was
every day
was living death so bad for her image?
she wondered what Persephone thought of
in the months she was away from Hades –

time didn’t really matter until you came home

                         oh.
                   she thought of me.

Prompt: Clock
