xxii. souls sold in silence

  it was costly to be what she was
         a toll for a soul, a coin for a nap
       while the raven’s eye watched soulfully
            like odin’s, but kinder
                        at least to her –

    if she was going to do this right,
           she would need all the help she could conjure
       and so she spoke to the spirits every night,
       winning them over, easily for some
          bargaining with others;

                  they all said yes in the end,
                  the raven made sure of this –

Prompt: Expensive
