<<are you stable, Jude?>>
it is fascinating, in a terrifying way,
to see what the Being associates
with my name.
warm blankets and old 90s rock
strong coffee in a styrofoam cup
eyelashes fallen on cheeks.
They once said I reminded Them
of a comet They had passed by
somewhere in the sea of time.
on fire, on a journey, with an unknown destination, and landing time.
the goal was to survive.
"I saw a labyrinth of shadows
red and built of clay
dark candles dripping wax
onto stretched shoulders below.
the goal is becoming clearer,
the destination unblurred.
we're not going to make it,
are we?"
the sterile, dusty walls shook
lights flickering as hints of dawn
began to rise outside the front window.
<<I do not know.>>
doors rattled, the nurse's counter had pens, papers, and a stethoscope
tossed from the surface.
I glance at the clock:
three o'five in the morning.
"fine.
there's someone in the light
ready to guide us to safety
if we can find them.
I saw coordinates:
1° 28′ 09″ S, 78° 49′ 03″ W."
something behind my eye
moving my hand to my face
and covered it.
"oh no."
